Food photography

Food photographed to sell it - from tasting menus to the window of a burger counter.

A dish has about one second to do its work on a delivery app, and roughly the same on a menu. Food photography is a commercial job before it is an aesthetic one: the picture either makes somebody order or it does not.

Shot on location, with the kitchen plating the way it does for a customer. The point is not a styled dish that arrives looking like something else - it is the real one, lit so it looks like what the cook already made.

Two kitchens, two jobs. A tasting menu is photographed for the room it is served in; a burger is photographed for a phone screen at eleven at night. They are lit, framed and graded differently on purpose, which is why the gallery below is in two parts rather than one.

Chapter 01 11 photographs

Fine dining Comida elegante

Plated courses, tasting menus and the ceramics they arrive on. Shot for restaurants that are selling a room, not only a dish.

Chapter 02 13 photographs

Fast & casual Comida rápida

Burgers, sandwiches and counter food, lit for the delivery app, the menu board and the window. Appetite first.
